There’s a fascinating cycle built into the sporting world, with football dominating the fall, baseball rising in the summer, and basketball becoming much of our focus in the winter and early spring. For NCAA Basketball, it’s obvious that March is the month of utmost relevance, but it’s not the only time the sport shines. College basketball stretches impressive play and memorable moments from November to early April until we crown a champion.

Many young people dream of having those memorable moments or leaving college as a champion, and we’re talking about more of those stories today. We are continuing our long-running series that looks closely at the best college basketball players of the last ten years from each individual state. We’ve already looked at more than two dozen states and seen some of the best basketball players in recent memory. Today, the focus shifts back out west, looking closely at the players from New Mexico.

When someone thinks about successful high school basketball, New Mexico is not one of the first states that come to mind. However, the state still manages to produce a fair bunch of successful young players, with Albuquerque a seemingly fertile land of talent. This is not an article about the Lobos or about collegiate teams from New Mexico, but it’s certainly possible you’ll be seeing some of them ahead.

Each of the ten players mentioned today is from the state of New Mexico, which means their hometowns are listed as being from the state. This is not a piece about high school stars, and we’ll be focusing solely on their performances at the college level. It doesn’t matter their recruit ranking or professional success; this is about the best collegiate players from this state. Without further ado, let’s look at these ten athletes from New Mexico.
