No matter where you’re from, if you know and love basketball then you look forward to March every year. The NCAA Basketball Tournament provides a buzz of excitement that is almost not describable. It’s not just the 68 teams and fanbases that are excited, but the entire nation is filled with anticipation, filling out brackets and ready for the madness to unfold. As we saw with Saint Peter’s this past season, the madness can sometimes even be completely unpredictable.

So many college basketball stories haven’t been written yet, though we’ve been reminding people about some of the great players in recent times. We’ve been keeping on with this series that looks at the best college basketball players from the last decade from each individual state. The level of talent between states can be drastically different, with states like Montana quite a bit behind states like California. Today, we’re looking at another one of those states that have really produced numerous stars in the game.

New York is one of the most prominent states in the country, making it no surprise that we’ll see some impressive names on today’s list. New York City has produced a plethora of basketball talent, and we can’t forget the contributions from the rest of the state. With a state of this magnitude, there were a lot more players than usual to consider, meaning some familiar names may not appear on this list. Most notably, players like Cole Anthony and AJ Griffins had fantastic seasons as star athletes but just missed out the cut, competing with some talented players who did a bit more across longer careers.

Finally, it’s important again to remember that this is not an article about the best players who played college ball at New York. In fact, this isn’t even about high school players from the state. Players fall into the New York category if their hometowns are listed as from the state, though most of today’s players did play their high school ball in the Empire State. Let’s proceed with today’s list, as there are ten impressive young basketball careers to examine.
