NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of New York of last decade

3. Sean Kilpatrick – Cincinnati
He sometimes feels like one of those underappreciated or forgotten players, but we’re not forgetting about Kilpatrick today. A 6’4 guard from Yonkers, Kilpatrick made his way to Cincinnati in 2010, playing the next four seasons under Mick Cronin, starring in both the Big East and the early days of the AAC.
Despite being a reserve, he had a great impact as a freshman, including a 26-point effort early in the season against Wright State. A starter his final three seasons, Kilpatrick saw his offensive numbers continue to skyrocket, averaging 14.3 points as a sophomore, 17.0 as a junior, and an impressive 20.6 points per game in the AAC as a senior. He scored a personal-high 19 points in an NCAA Tournament loss to Creighton as a junior, while his career-high 36 points came earlier that season in a win over Marquette.
Kilpatrick was named a Second Team All-American and received All-Big East or All-AAC honors in each of his final three seasons. He led the new AAC in points per game in its inaugural season and led both of his conferences in 3-pointers. He was a vital piece on Cronin’s early success at Cincinnati, though few seem to remember just how impressive a player Kilpatrick was on the basketball court. His professional career has taken him all over the world, with stints in the NBA, G-League, and several leagues overseas.
