5. Devon Dotson – Kansas

One of the top-rated guards in the class of 2018, Dotson found his way to Kansas, starring for a pair of seasons under the great Bill Self. A 6’2 guard from Charlotte, Dotson was a full-time starter and efficient scorer for the Jayhawks, playing a major role on one of Self’s finest teams since taking over the Jayhawks program.

Dotson was impressive as a freshman, averaging 12.3 points a game and showing great potential on offense, even if the Jayhawks were upset in the NCAA Tournament by Auburn. He took a step forward as a sophomore, averaging 18.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on a Kansas team that finished the season 28-3, with the pandemic cutting off what could’ve been a deep postseason run. He set career-highs with 31 points and 5 steals in a win over Dayton and had an all-around fantastic impact with the Jayhawks.

Dotson was named All-Big 12 in each of his seasons, grabbing First Team honors as a sophomore, while also being named Second Team All-American as well. He led the Big 12 in points, steals, and free throws during that incredible season and led a Kansas team that was probably the favorite had the 2020 NCAA Tournament transpired. This talented former 5-star prospect has spent the last few seasons bouncing between the NBA and the G-League after going undrafted and we’ll have to see what the rest of his basketball story tells us.
