NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Ohio of last decade
By Joey Loose
6. Evan Bradds – Belmont
Across the last decade, Belmont was one of those teams that almost quietly emerged as one of the nation’s best mid-major programs. Spending four seasons with the Bruins, Bradds played a big role in some of that success. A 6’7 forward from Jamestown, he made his way down to Nashville back in 2013. His final three collegiate seasons saw him emerge into one of the best mid-major pieces in the nation.
After a decent freshman season as a role player, Bradds started to develop into a star for the Bruins. His scoring and rebounding numbers rose drastically as his career progressed, averaging greater than 20 points a game during his senior season. Bradds helped lead Belmont to the NCAA Tournament as a sophomore and a flurry of OVC regular season success. He had a career-high 36 points in a win over Tennessee State.
Three times an All-OVC player, Bradds was named OVC Player of the Year as both a junior and senior. In both of those seasons, he led the entire nation in field goal percentage, ranking among the all-time leaders in that category. He was a force on offense, standing out as one of the better forwards in the entire nation. After graduation, Bradds got into coaching and is currently on the coaching staff of the Utah Jazz.
