2. The Big 12 could have another strong season

The Big 12 has been the deepest most dominant team in the country over the last half of a decade, including three straight trips to the national title game, with two trophies. The Big East holds the record for most teams in a single NCAA Tournament with 11 in 2011. With only 10 teams, that is one record the Big 12 won’t be able to break but sending 80%-90% of the conference to the tournament.

When the preseason polls come out, I expect that we will see half of the conference listed in the top 25 with Baylor and Kansas likely top-10, perhaps even top-5 teams in my opinion. In addition to those two, Texas Tech, Texas and TCU should also be among the initial top 25. Out of the remaining five teams, I think that both Oklahoma Schools and West Virginia have the best chance at an at-large berth, with Iowa State and Kansas State likely on the outside looking in.

The Big 12 should once again be the deepest, most-competitive conference in the country, the only thing that may prevent them from sending more than seven teams to the NCAA Tournament would be the teams beating up on each other in conference play. At the end of the season, I expect the 2022-23 version of the Big 12 to be added to the list of conferences to send the most teams to a single tournament.
