9. Stephen Holt – Saint Mary’s

A 6’4 guard from Portland, Holt found his way to Saint Mary’s to play under Randy Bennett. He arrived in 2010, joining a Gaels program that was fresh off a surprising appearance in the Sweet Sixteen. Holt blossomed into a great player at Saint Mary’s by the end of his collegiate career, becoming one of the best guards in the WCC.

He had a few nice performances as a freshman, settling for an NIT bid with the Gaels. He was a double-digit scorer the last three seasons of his career, helping Saint Mary’s to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2012 and 2013. He actually scored 18 points in a first-round win over Middle Tennessee during his junior season. The following year, he averaged 15.2 points and 3.9 assists per game, featuring as an important weapon for the Gaels on offense.

That great senior season saw Holt named First Team All-WCC. He led the conference in steals as a freshman and actually ranked very high in both offensive and defensive analytics throughout his career. He had decent shooting clips and keyed a couple of pretty solid Gaels teams from just about a decade ago. His professional career then began in 2014 and much of it has been spent playing overseas, though he did get a bit of run in the G-League shortly after leaving the Gaels.
