NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Oregon of last decade
By Joey Loose
7. E. J. Singler – Oregon
It’s been so long since Singler was playing college ball at Oregon that he was actually recruited and played his freshman season under former coach Ernie Kent. A 6’6 forward from Medford, Singler stayed in his home state and thrived with the Ducks, really coming about under Dana Altman near the end of his collegiate career.
Singler spent much of his career as one of the Ducks’ starting forwards, growing into an important role on both offense and defense. He averaged at least 11 points per game in his final three seasons, with that figure ballooning to 13.6 with 5.6 rebounds a game during his junior year. That same season saw him score a career-high 26 points against UCLA. He helped the Ducks to postseason success, winning the CBI as a sophomore, advancing in the NIT as a junior, and making a run to the Sweet Sixteen in his final season.
Singler’s effort did not go unnoticed, as he was named All-Pac-12 twice, including First Team honors as a senior. He led the Pac-12 in free throw percentage twice, putting up solid numbers across the board for a Ducks team that really started building during his time in Eugene. Following his career in Oregon, he spent nearly a decade playing in the G-League and internationally, nabbing the G-League’s 3-point contest championship a year later.
