10. Samir Doughty – VCU / Auburn

This 6’4 guard from Philadelphia had himself a pretty intriguing collegiate career, contributing at a pair of schools. Doughty began his career at VCU under Will Wade but entered the transfer portal when Wade departed for the LSU job. He’d then spend his last two collegiate seasons over at Auburn, contributing on one of the best seasons in Auburn basketball history.

Doughty put up 9.0 points per game as a freshman, helping the Rams to a 26-win season. After sitting out the next season due to transfer rules, he settled into a role in the Tigers’ backcourt, helping the program to an SEC Tournament title and the first Final Four in school history. Doughty scored a team-high 13 points in their last-second loss to Virginia. As a redshirt junior, he was an important contributor for the Tigers, averaging 16.7 points per game as Auburn finished the year second in the SEC.

Clearly, Doughty was a part of history for the Tigers, and he was even better in that season shortened by the pandemic. He was named First Team All-SEC in his final collegiate season, ranking among the most important and efficient offensive players in the conference. Doughty opted to go pro after using just three seasons of eligibility, playing last season in the G-League.
