NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Pennsylvania of last decade
By Joey Loose
7. Izaiah Brockington – St. Bonaventure / Penn State / Iowa State
Brockington was another player who had quite the journey at the collegiate level. A 6’4 shooting guard originally from Philadelphia, he made his way to St. Bonaventure but spent just a single season with the Bonnies before transferring to Penn State. He sat out a season and played for two before transferring a second time, spending his final collegiate season at Iowa State under first-year coach T. J. Otzelberger.
He had a 20-point performance against TCU as a freshman, but had limited chances and transferred to Penn State. His offensive stats and usage rose with every passing season, and by his junior season, he was averaging 12.6 points and 4.9 rebounds a game. Brockington spent his final year at Iowa State and was an important piece on a surprisingly good Cyclones squad. He averaged 16.9 points and 6.8 rebounds a game, had a career-high 35 points against West Virginia and helped lead the program to the Sweet Sixteen.
He showed potential early in his career but really stood out in that final season, winning All-Big 12 First Team honors for a fantastic season. He was among the Big 12’s leaders in points, rebounds, and a few other analytical figures, playing an important role on both sides of the ball for the Cyclones. Brockington was not drafted but likely has some basketball left in the tank, especially after showing his potential this past season over in Ames.
