Stanford could make the biggest jump in the Pac-12

Stanford should be an improved team this season and having Ingram back to pair with Spencer Jones is the biggest reason for that. Improvement from the rest of the roster and the addition of the other Jones, Mike should help offensively.

The conference as a whole should take a bit of a step back which also gives the Cardinal the opportunity to climb in the standings. Another key to Stanford’s improvement will be a full year of Brandon Angel getting starters minutes and what kind of jump he can make.

No matter what improvements have been made to the roster, the biggest key by far will be to clean up last year’s struggles both offensively and defensively. First and foremost, they need to cut down on the turnovers, they won’t win many games committing 15 per contest again. Defensively, they need to do a better job of making their opponents take tough shots. Last season they ranked 239th in effective field goal percentage at 53.7% and 212th in true shooting percentage (107.9%).

If all goes right, an NCAA Tournament berth could be in the offing, but for me, it is more likely that the Cardinal jump to the middle of the Pac-12 and a trip to one of the other post-season tournaments.
