19. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles

2021-22 record: 19-12 (12-6 in Summit League)

Despite losing star forward Kevin Obanor a year ago to Texas Tech, the Eagles were able to avoid taking a step back in the conference. That’s thanks to the star that came back in Max Abmas, who led the conference with 22.8 ppg, including a pair of 38-point efforts last season.

Also back in the backcourt is Issac McBride, a successful transfer from Kansas, producing 12.3 ppg and slightly helping the team be a little better defensively. Kareem Thompson and Trey Phipps are back as well, joined by Arizona State transfer, Demari Williams.

The frontcourt, which already was solid without Obanor, gets a nice boost in a pair of transfers. Connor Vanover is a whopping 7’4 center that played at both Cal and Arkansas. He’ll be impactful at the Summit League but don’t expect him to be running up and down the floor all game. Also coming in is UT-Arlington transfer Patrick Mwamba, a 6’7 forward coming off 10.0 ppg and 4.4 rpg. His efficiency numbers aren’t very good but from a depth perspective, he’ll be an asset to the Eagles.

As long as Abmas is around, Oral Roberts will be a contender in the Summit League. And with the losses the perennial top teams suffered, this is as good a chance as ever to win the regular season title.
