NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Tennessee of last decade
By Joey Loose
10. Jordan Bone – Tennessee
A 6’3 point guard from Nashville, Bone is a player who stayed in his home state of Tennessee. In 2016, he made his way to Knoxville to play for Rick Barnes and the Volunteers. Bone spent his next three seasons with the Volunteers and was an important piece on a pair of very impressive Tennessee squads.
Known more for his work running the offense early in his career, Bone was the starting point guard for most of his three-year career. He averaged just over 7 points a game in his first two seasons but did help the Volunteers into the NCAA Tournament during his sophomore year. As a junior, Bone scored a career-high 27 points in a win over Kentucky and helped lead the Volunteers to the Sweet Sixteen. During that season, he averaged 13.5 points and 5.8 assists a game, putting up three double-doubles along the way.
Bone was named Second Team All-SEC as a junior, a well-deserved honor for that impressive season with the Volunteers. He was among the national leader in assists during that season and was a very important figure in running this Volunteers team across those three seasons. Bone chose to forgo his final year of eligibility and was taken very late in the 2019 NBA Draft. He played a few dozen games in the NBA but is now suiting up overseas.
