5. Max Abmas – Oral Roberts

This is another one of those under-the-radar guys that have really exploded onto the scene, though Abmas is making sure nobody forgets about him. A 6’1 guard from Rockwell, he settled for Oral Roberts, arriving on campus back in 2019 and already making history with the Golden Eagles. One of the best shooters in the entire nation, his last three years have been phenomenal and Abmas certainly isn’t finished yet.

Freshman year was solid for Abmas, but things really developed in his second season. He averaged 24.5 points a game, hitting nearly 43% of his 3-pointers. He then scored at least 25 points in three shocking performances in the NCAA Tournament, leading the Golden Eagles to the Sweet Sixteen as a 15-seed. This past season, his numbers were just as impressive for Oral Roberts; it’s hard to be disappointed by a guard who scores 22.8 points a game.

During that sophomore season, Abmas was named Summit League Player of the Year, Tournament MVP, and led the entire nation in points per game. He’s been one of the country’s best shooters the last few seasons even at a mid-major like Oral Roberts. This dynamic offensive player will be back for his senior year this upcoming season, with expectations even higher for him as he hopes to take the Golden Eagles to one more NCAA Tournament run.
