We can spend months on predictions and prognostications, but nobody really knows what’s going to happen in any NCAA Basketball season or NCAA Tournament. It’s a bit topical based on this article, but nobody expected UMBC to upend top-seeded Virginia four years ago. Few people expected runs like George Mason or VCU or last year’s Saint Peter’s team. Regardless, it’s clear that the season and the Tournament are constantly giving us memorable moments, whether or not the people and players and teams are expected or a March surprise.

Sometimes those moments are a surprise and sometimes the impact players are expected. Today we’re still looking at the best college basketball players of the last ten seasons from each state, continuing a series that has progressed for the last two months. We’ve already seen hundreds of college basketball players from the last decade and the impact they’ve made on programs both big and small. Today’s focus is on more of those high-impact players, as the state of Virginia has really delivered the talent.

There have been some pretty incredible players coming out of this state in recent years, and it’s another one of these pieces where ten players barely seems like enough. Still, we’re limiting our scope to the best ten players and you can bet that all ten have had fantastic basketball careers. Remember, this is not an article about the Virginia Cavaliers, and there won’t even be a single Cavaliers mentioned in today’s piece. We’re solely looking at players who grew up in this state.

The high school or college each player attended does not matter; it’s all about their hometown. Virginia has produced a ton of highly-ranked or highly-touted talent and you’ll see that with these ten players. We’re diving deeply into these ten names, and Virginia has produced a level of talent comparable to a number of the bigger states in the country. Let’s get right into today’s ranking.
