6. James Michael McAdoo – North Carolina

McAdoo was one of the nation’s top prospects back in the class of 2011. A 6’9 forward from Norfolk, this 5-star recruit joined Roy Williams at North Carolina and would spend the next three years playing for the Tar Heels. After a limited impact as a freshman, McAdoo’s final two collegiate seasons saw him blossom into a major contributor at North Carolina.

He put up decent numbers in limited chances as a freshman but became a full-time frontcourt starter moving forward. McAdoo averaged 14.4 points and 7.3 rebounds as a sophomore, jumping out of the gate with a 26-point, 14-rebound effort on opening night against Gardner-Webb. He had similar stats as a junior and helped the Tar Heels to the NCAA Tournament in all three of his seasons, scoring 15 points as a freshman in an Elite Eight loss to Kansas.

McAdoo was named Second Team All-ACC for both his sophomore and junior seasons, becoming one of the better scorers and rebounders in the league. He was one of the most utilized players during that sophomore year and grew into an above-average force on the defensive end of the court. McAdoo was a bit early for the Tar Heel’s recent runs to the Final Four but was still a formidable piece. He spent some time in the NBA after leaving college early but has continued his career overseas in recent years.
