2. Chase Fischer – Wake Forest / BYU

An impressive young prospect, Fischer initially began his collegiate career at Wake Forest back in 2011 under head coach Jeff Bzdelik. The 6’3 guard from Ripley played two seasons with the Demon Deacons, but transferred, seeing his role diminish as a sophomore. After sitting out the next season, he starred at BYU for his final two seasons, really emerging as a top player during that final collegiate campaign for the Cougars.

As a freshman, Fischer saw considerable minutes off the bench and averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Eventually, Fischer made his way to BYU and was an important weapon those final two seasons, becoming a full-time starter in the backcourt. As a junior, he was an impact player, with 23 points in an NCAA Tournament loss to Ole Miss. BYU would not return to the NCAA Tournament the next year, but Fischer’s 18.2 points per game certainly helped lead the Cougars, who made the NIT semifinals. He also had a career-high 41 points in a win against New Mexico a few months earlier.

There’s not much to say about his role as a reserve at Wake Forest, but his time in the WCC was quite successful. Fischer was named First Team All-WCC as a senior while leading the conference in 3-point field goals in both of his seasons. One of the nation’s top long-range shooters, he developed into quite the offensive weapon for the Cougars and really found his footing on the West Coast with this program.
