Schedule Outlook
As is the case for most power conference teams, Oklahoma gets a slew of home games against mid-major foes, and there are four such games to open their season, making a 4-0 start a definitely possibility. The Sooners then head to Orlando late in November for the ESPN Events Invitational. After a winnable game against Nebraska in the opening round, they’ll get either Memphis or Seton Hall in the second round and an unknown opponent for their final game.
What’s next isn’t easy for the Sooners, who head on the road for the Big East-Big 12 Battle. Oklahoma heads to Villanova, playing the Wildcats for the first time since their 44-point loss in the Final Four back in 2016. These Wildcats are very impressive, as this might be Oklahoma’s hardest nonconference game.
The rest of the nonconference slate has some intrigue as well. The Sooners get a couple more easy games at home, but also play a pair of SEC teams in neutral-site games. They’ll take on Arkansas in Tulsa on December 10th before heading to Charlotte to face Florida in the Jumpman Invitational a week and a half later.
The Big 12 plays a full round-robin schedule, meaning that’s nine home and road games against their conference foes. None of these contests will be easy by any means, though Oklahoma will get their first two conference games at home against Texas and Iowa State. Their Big 12/SEC Challenge game is also at home, as they’ll welcome in Alabama on January 28th. Conference play and their regular season concludes at home against TCU on March 4th, the final home game for Tanner Groves and a few other Sooners.
