Schedule overview

Alexander is a master at scheduling other high-level, mid-major programs. Teams like Belmont struggle to schedule ‘power conference’ games, so Alexander has made sure he acquires games with top-tier mid-major teams.

Last season games with Saint Louis, Dayton, and Drake boosted the Bruins’ National Evaluation Tool rankings. A 2021-22 contest with LSU also helped. The Bruins defeated SLU and Drake and lost by two points to Dayton.

Belmont opens the season against Ohio (25-10) and the competition continues to be difficult. Furman, Georgia State, Middle Tennessee, Chattanooga, and Samford either won at least twenty games or participated in the NCAA Tournament.

While the Bruins open the Paradise Jam against Tarleton State, Belmont’s second-round game will be against Boston College or George Mason.

Chattanooga and Georgia State were March Madness participants and the Mocs and Middle Tennessee won regular-season titles in their respective leagues. Ohio and Middle Tennessee participated in the College Basketball Invitational.

The schedule includes a third game at the Paradise Jam and a cross-town rivalry game with Lipscomb.

Belmont’s games with Furman, Lipscomb, Georgia State, and Chattanooga are on the road, boosting their NET value. The Bruins played Ohio, Furman, Lipscomb, Samford and Chattanooga going 4-and-1 in those contests. Belmont finished with a Kenpom rating of 86.
