Projected Starters

Guard – Darrion Trammell (Senior)

After two years at Seattle as a dynamic playmaker, Trammell becomes the Aztecs’ point guard and is expected to be quite the splash. He averaged 17.3 points and 5.0 assists last season and was named both First Team All-WAC and to the conference’s All-Defense squad. Trammell will fit in nicely with the Aztecs’ defensive system and be a threat all over the court on offense.

Guard – Lamont Butler (Junior)

It’s year three for Butler and he’s expected to take another step forward after averaging 7.3 points per game as a starter last year. Butler is quick and lethal on defense, finishing 4th in the conference in steals as he was named to the All-Defense team in the MWC. If he can contribute further as a scorer, Butler might blossom into an All-League type of player.

Guard – Matt Bradley (Senior)

Bradley averaged 16.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season and was the only Aztec who scored more than 9 points a game. The former standout at California was twice named All-Pac-12 and has given this program a major boost, earning First Team All-MWC honors last season. He should surpass 2000 career points this season and should continue to be a force for the Aztecs, especially on the offensive end.

Forward – Jaedon LeDee (Senior)

There’s plenty of excitement surrounding LeDee, a former Top 75 recruit who played briefly at Ohio State and TCU before making his way to San Diego State. He’s slid nicely into that 4 spot for the Aztecs and has the ability to become a force down low on both sides of the ball, especially with his size and strength.

Forward – Nathan Mensah (Senior)

One of the most important returning pieces for the Aztecs, Mensah was MWC Defensive Player of the Year last season, leading the conference in blocks and various defensive metrics. Having averaged 7.0 points and 6.9 rebounds last season, he gives the Aztecs that experienced and talented force down low; the final part of this dominant defense.
