Schedule Outlook

Things start off relatively simple for the Wildcats, who open the season with a pair of easy home contests, bringing Howard and Duquesne to Lexington. On November 15th, they’ll face off in Indianapolis with Michigan State as part of the annual Champions Classic. After that intriguing contest, they’re back home for another easy game against a mid-major.

The most intriguing game on Kentucky’s schedule comes that following weekend, as they’ll head west to Spokane to face Gonzaga on November 20th. This will be one of the most highly anticipated scheduled games of the early season, with these two teams perhaps in the Top 5 of the nation during this contest.

While the Wildcats do not play in a holiday tournament, there are a few more interesting games on the schedule. They’ll play in the London Showcase against Michigan on December 4th and also head to Madison Square Garden to take on UCLA as part of the CBS Sports Classic. Additionally, they’ll host rival Louisville on New Year’s Eve, welcoming longtime former assistant Kenny Payne back to Lexington as the Cardinals’ new head coach.

Early January gives Kentucky a pair of tough games, with road trips to both Alabama and Tennessee, two of the top teams in the league this season. It’s their only matchup with the Crimson Tide, though they’ll get a home date with Tennessee later in the year. On January 28th, they’ll host defending champion Kansas as part of the Big 12/SEC challenge. The final few weeks of the season will also see their one game against Auburn, which comes at home, before a regular-season finale on the road at Arkansas.
