Veterans Day is an important day in the United States for a lot of reasons, mainly it is a time for us to honor those individuals who have fought overseas to protect the freedom in the United States. Let me speak for everyone when I say thank you to all veterans for fighting for that freedom. It is also an important day on the College Basketball calendar. There are usually huge college basketball games that day but this year for the first time since 2012 there will be a basketball game played on an aircraft carrier.
There is no Champions Classic this year, in previous years those two games were a showcase of four of the historically best programs in the country and was the kickoff to the season. This year the best game of the first week also happens to be between two blue blood programs. One is an older, consistent tradition rich blue blood and the other could be considered new blood. The Michigan State Spartans and the Gonzaga Bulldogs are going to get underway in prime time on Friday night aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego. The game is on an aircraft carrier, it’s outside and is going to be a great game.
The Bulldogs have the better roster on paper and have been one of the best teams in the country over the last 15 years. Michigan State is always going to get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making the NCAA tournament. Each team has legendary coaches and have put many players into the NBA. This is the next best thing to the Champions Classic as there are going to be two teams with a ton of history playing in prime time. With that said, Gonzaga is the team who are going to be picked to win this game and by doing the following three things they will be able to make sure they get a victory.
