Tennessee Basketball: 3 keys for Volunteers vs Colorado Buffaloes
By Bryan Mauro
Keep Them Down
It is going to be talked about a lot during the broadcast and it was written about in the three keys to a Colorado Victory article. The Buffaloes just lost to Grambling on the road. That loss is one that likely isn’t going to look great come March but luckily for Colorado, it was only their second game of the year so they have many opportunities going forward to get resume-building wins starting with Tennessee. Well, that is if the Volunteers let it happen. Keep Colorado down, come out early and establish the pace that you want to play and how you want to play.
If Tennessee happens to let the Buffaloes hang around, it would likely mean a game that is a lot closer than the Volunteers planned on playing today. Colorado is questioning a lot of things given their most recent loss, and Tennessee has the better roster. All they have to do is come out and start fast and put the game out of reach early. The Buffaloes are not going to give up but the more separation you create early the less likely the Colorado players are going to come back. The doubt will start to creep back in and Tennessee will have a huge advantage.
Tennessee already has the better roster and likely will win this game going away, but the first week of the season has already produced some shocking results like the result of the Grambling win over Colorado. Expect the unexpected a lot of times. The hungrier team is usually the one who wins these types of games and Tennessee needs to come out and be the aggressor and put Colorado away early. Do not let them hang around or it could spell bad news for the Volunteers.
