Indiana Basketball destroys Miami (OH) behind Davis’ double-double
Indiana Basketball beats Miami of Ohio by a large margin. Despite the huge difference in talent, the Redhawks hung around for longer than expected.
Indiana Basketball beat the Miami Ohio Redhawks, 86-56. Trayce Jackson Davis led the way with 17 points and 16 rebounds. He shot very well from the floor, shooting 80 percent from the floor.
Miami Ohio was able to stay in this game early, as it was 8-6 going into the first under-16 timeout of the game. Indiana started to shoot poorly, only able to score two points in the next four minutes stretch.
After the under-12 timeout, Indiana got themselves back together, having a stretch where they shot 5 of 6 from the floor. Miami Ohio was able to keep pace, as it was close going into the under-8 timeout.
The Hoosiers started to show their dominance and not look back, as they went on a 15-3 run after the under-8 timeout. They were up 43-26 at the half, and they wouldn’t really look back in the second half.
Trayce Jackson Davis led the way for the Hoosiers. In the limited minutes the all-American played, he had a double-double.
Jalen Hood-Schifino had 12 points on 41 percent shooting from the floor. Malik Reneau had a solid performance with 10 points on 71 percent shooting from the floor.
Indiana made sure no one on Miami-Ohio got hot, as only two players got into double digits. Julian Lewis and Mekhi Lairy were the only two Redhawks that were able to score double digits.
Both of them end up with 12 points, and not particularly great shooting. (Lewis shot 40 percent and Lairy shot 27 percent from the floor)
The Hoosiers looked tired. Considering, they played a close one with Xavier on Friday, it is somewhat justified that they appeared sluggish in this one.
I didn’t really expect the Hoosiers to lose this one. Indiana is way better than Miami Ohio.
Still, not completely dominating this matchup is somewhat disappointing. While the Hoosiers do have the excuse of fatigue, this opponent isn’t near their talent level at all.
I expect Indiana to roll through the rest of their schedule till they get to their prime-time matchup with North Carolina on the 30th.
Not being able to completely dominate Little Rock and Jackson State, going into the Carolina game would give me a little bit of worry for the Hoosiers.
Beating Caleb Love, Armando Bacot, and company will be a challenge for the Hoosiers, looking good into this matchup is key. That means they DESTROY Their next two opponents.
