The Cayman Islands Classic will feature eight strong teams top to bottom, running from Monday to Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

It’s almost time for the most fun non-post-season week of college basketball. It’s Feast Week, and there’s a host of multi-team events going on across the country… and beyond. One of the more exciting events figures to be the 2022 Cayman Islands Classic, featuring eight talented teams. And a majority of them figure to reappear again in the postseason, either in the NCAA Tournament or elsewhere. Here’s what’s in store.

One-half of the bracket is highlighted by LSU, who sits at 3-0 on the season. They’ll take on Illinois State (2-2) to open the games on Monday, with the winner facing either Akron or Western Kentucky. The Zips are 2-1 on the season, while WKU checks in at 3-0 (although two of those wins have come against non-D1 competition).

The other side of the slate has a pair of solid teams in Nevada and Kansas State. That second-round match-up is intriguing, but the two squads will need to win their respective opening-round contests. Nevada (4-0) will have to deal with the 3-0 Tulane Green Wave. And 3-0 Kansas State will do battle with the 1-2 Rhode Island Rams.

Here’s the full Cayman Islands Classic schedule with tip times (Eastern):

LSU is obviously the favorite to take home the crown, but Kansas State and Nevada will be in the mix for sure. And if you’re looking for sleepers, both Tulane and Western Kentucky fit that bill. It wouldn’t be shocking for either of those teams to make a push and end up in the mix for the title.
