20. Texas Tech (3-0)

It’s been business as usual at Texas Tech two weeks into this season, even after losing some major pieces from last year’s team. Mark Adams and this defense look just as impressive early on, though there are clearly more significant tests ahead. For now, they’re passing the early tests with flying colors and sit at 3-0.

After two early wins at home without much drama, it was a bit of a closer game this past Monday. The Red Raiders pulled off a 64-55 win against Louisiana Tech, a decent mid-major program. De’Vion Harmon and Kevin Obanor both had 15 points while the defense turned in a third straight solid performance, giving up just over 50 points a game this season.

Early on, these Red Raiders are looking good and defending their early spot in the rankings. However, it’s far too early for us to really understand what to expect at Texas Tech. This team really played well last year after coach Chris Beard left the program. We don’t know yet how these pieces work together or what this team’s ceiling is, but we’ll find out a lot next week, as the Red Raiders head to the Maui Invitational, with a first-round matchup against a great Creighton squad.
