After the first two weeks of the NCAA Basketball season, we are starting to learn which teams and which players are going to make an impact. The individual players finally have enough counting stats to determine if the one good game was an outlier or more of the normal output for the player. In the first two weeks, we have noticed that not much has changed and the players we thought would be the stars of each team are turning out to be just that. Who were the best players of the last two weeks though?

In what is going to be a new feature at Busting Brackets we will now award the national player of the week in both the mid-major leagues and power five leagues. This is going to be an evaluation based on how the players performed in their games and the evaluation criteria is simple. How did that player impact their team on the floor, what were their points, rebounds, assists, and other counting stats?  Did they lock down on defense?  I am the one who is creating the lists and nominating the players each week.

To get a list of 12 players for the mid-major award and 12 players for the power 5 award I went back and reviewed all of the games I have watched and scouted and still went conference by conference to get a list of the most deserving players. Keep in mind that this is an award for the first two weeks of the year but will then be given out every week on the following Monday. I hope this takes off and is a fun thing for everyone to get behind. Let me know why your guy should be considered for the player of the week. This week’s awards go to!
