Finally some good news!

After starting his tenure with three 20-loss seasons, which is the most in Nebraska history. The program finally seems to be headed in the right direction and the fans finally have something good to read about coach Hoiberg and the basketball program. The year didn’t start out well as star player Derrick Walker was listed as out for “healthcare reasons” for the first five games of the year. The way he is currently playing makes you wonder if Nebraska would have had a chance against some of the games they let getaway this year.

Now that Walker is back the Huskers look like a new team and with his full roster in hand, the Huskers have done something no other team in the history of the Nebraska basketball program has pulled off. Dating back to last year, Nebraska has won three straight road games against ranked teams. Last season it won over No. 22 Ohio State in Columbus, then a win at No. 10 Wisconsin in Madison, and now this season a win at Number 7 Creighton in Omaha.

Nebraska needed this Creighton win, the fans needed it, and most importantly coach Hoiberg needed it. This is a win that proves that what he is doing is working this year and he may have finally figured it out. Yes, I know Creighton shot the ball terribly and every other excuse in the book. If you go back and watch the game you will see that the Huskers had a game plan designed to shut down Creighton and they executed it perfectly. It was a perfect night and a fantastic early Christmas present for the Huskers as under coach Hoiberg they finally have a win that will hold water in March. Don’t know if the Huskers will need it, but at least they have it.
