It’s been a month since the 2022-23 season began and ACC Basketball has experienced plenty of ups and downs so far. There have been a few positive surprises, along with several disappointments as well. And currently, there’s one program still without a win altogether.

Overall, the ACC is in a solid spot when it comes to getting at least 4-5 bids for the NCAA Tournament but the mid-tier has some work to do. And joining that “mid-tier” is a team that few expected would be there. Find out where that preseason contender is now, as well as the rest of the league.

The Cardinals are not only the worst team in the ACC but only fellow unbeaten team Cal is on their level among power conference programs this season. They looked like they would be somewhat competitive at the start, losing the first three games but just one point each. But once Louisville went to play power conference foes, the blowouts started coming.

Only three teams out of 363 scored fewer points than this team and they rank dead last in assists per game. El Ellis is the lone consistent double-digit scorer on the team but his stats have taken a dip against good guards, going 1/10 from the field in the team’s latest loss against Miami to open league play. And with no other guard that can produce, it leaves a roster with no way of having any kind of offense unless Ellis goes for 30+ points.

It looks dim for the Cardinals but they may have a chance this weekend, taking on a Florida State team with just one win. But if they get blown out in that game as well, Louisville may end up not having five wins on the season overall.
