Arizona beats Indiana behind the Hoosiers poor first half shooting
The Arizona Wildcats beat the Hoosiers by double-digits in a top-25 matchup. Indiana struggled to shoot in the first half, which contributed to their loss.
The Arizona Wildcats beat the Indiana Hoosiers, 89-75. Arizona was led by Tubelis’ twenty-one points on 56 percent shooting. Indiana shot horribly in the first half, shooting around 28 percent for the majority of the first half. Race Thompson kept the Hoosiers alive by getting parts of his 16 points on 42 percent shooting from the floor.
Indiana picked up their shooting in the second half and was able to cut the deficit and get it down to six with around 6 minutes left. The Hoosiers were unable to cut further into the lead as they struggle on defense for the rest of the game.
Trayce Jackson Davis struggled in this one, only scoring 11 points on 40 percent shooting. The rest of the team didn’t do too much better, only having the leading scorer be Race Thompson with 16 points.
As already mentioned, Arizona was led by Azuolas Tubelis 21 points on 56 percent shooting. Pelle Larsson ended up with the second most points, scoring 16 points on 55 percent shooting. Oumar Ballo was the third-leading scorer with 15 points on 66 percent shooting. Overall, the team shot 49 percent from the floor.
Indiana was without Jalen-Hood Schifino. The offense clearly lacked any creativity whatever, as it became a very duplicate copy of last season when Indiana just took bad shots around Trayce Jackson Davis.
After three games without Schifino that the offense becomes one-dimensional when Schifino is not in the lineup, and the Hoosiers have needed someone to get unexpectedly hot the last three games.
Indiana’s next game is against Kansas on the 17th of December in what should be a very good game between two top programs (if Schifino plays).
If Indiana wants to beat Kansas, they will need Schifino back (of course they could have the hot shooting night from someone, See trey Galloway see 70 percent that they had in the Nebraska Game).
The schedule for the Hoosiers get light after that as they finished off with Elon and Kennesaw State to finish off the calendar year.
Arizona continues to pick up wins after their upset loss against Utah. This is the second straight win since their horrible shooting night against Utah which ended up being an upset loss for the Wildcats.
Arizona quickly picks up its schedule again on the 13th, playing Texas A&M-CC. After playing a tune-up game against A&M-CC, they will face off against Tennessee in what will be a matchup of two teams this season.
If they play strong in that game, it further shows that the Utah loss was a statistical anomaly and their performance in Maui (including a crazy last-minute win over Creighton) is the standard.
