Atlantic 10 Basketball: George Mason, Fordham rise in latest power rankings
By Stu Luddecke
Power-ranking the A10 is an impossible task right now, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. There’s obviously still a lot to figure out, but a couple of things are becoming clear; the top is much more of a mosh pit than it is one or two favorites followed by the field, and there should be near-unanimous agreement regarding the bottom 4 of Atlantic 10 Basketball.
The 2-11 spots are open for interpretation, so this article is really my best crack at that. Be prepared for a fair amount of movement in the coming weeks heading into conference play.
15. Saint Joe’s (4-5)
It’s not that the Hawks are atrocious in multiple key facets; it’s that there’s essentially nothing that they have done well to this point (229th on KenPom for offensive efficiency, 219th on the defensive side). A 17-point home loss to Fairleigh Dickinson doesn’t do much to help their case either.
As far as silver linings, they took home a nice OT-win over Penn, and they have an opportunity (might as well look at it optimistically) to entirely change the narrative around the program in a looming battle with Villanova. Erik Reynolds has been very good and is worth mentioning here – 19.0 points on 41% from deep and 89% from the line for him.
