The nationwide deep freeze of recent days is thawing and people are breaking out their 2023 calendars. First, however, programs need to do an assessment of 2022 before they turn the page on the year.

There are some NCAA basketball teams that will be sad to realize 2022 is at an end. The Kansas Jayhawks, for one, cut down the nets in April, ensuring Bill Self’s legacy in the game. Saint Peter’s is probably disappointed as well after going on a very memorable run in March, becoming beloved across the country.

There are other programs, though, that are desperate to put the year behind them and move into 2023 with renewed vigor. Whether they were the victim of controversy, coaching turmoil, or simply not being able to put a winning product on the court, these programs are ready to wash their hands of the year that was.

Which college basketball programs are ready to put 2022 far in the rearview mirror and set their sights on a better 2023?

Because this list accounts for the calendar year and not the traditional November-to-April college basketball calendar, there are some programs that had a strong start to this season that may still qualify, or teams that were good last season but have had such difficulties this season that they still need to change their mindset. If there are any teams missing that deserved inclusion, feel free to drop them in the comments.

Enough with the preamble. Let’s look ahead to the teams (listed in alphabetical order) who don’t want to look behind.
