Taking a quick snapshot of Texas Tech Basketball, there’s some good news and bad news. On one hand, they’ve survived well with Fardaws Aimaq, the big-time transfer from Utah Valley that was supposed to have a big impact this season. He’s still injured but reportedly could be close to returning sometime this month.

The bad news is that the rest of the schedule is brutal for the Red Raiders, as all 10 teams in the Big 12 look to be good, with some having national title aspirations. That includes the Kansas Jayhawks (12-1, 1-0), currently ranked in the top 5 of the country. But even they aren’t immune from a tough fight in league play, having to come back from 15+ points down to win, 69-67, led by 20 points from Jalen Wilson.

Texas Tech wasn’t able to win its league opener, falling on the road at TCU, 67-61. Freshman guard Pop Isaacs had 17 points to lead the team, while DeVion Harmon had 13 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. That drops the team to a 10-3 (0-1) record, making this upcoming matchup at home against Kansas fairly important.

Last season, the Red Raiders lost 2 of 3 games to the Jayhawks, splitting the regular season battle before losing in the Big 12 Tournament title game. There Jayhawks continued that win streak, all the way to winning a national championship last season.

The games between these teams are always close and entertaining and this one should be as well. Here’s a closer look at what Texas Tech Basketball needs to do to beat Kansas on Tuesday night.
