The Iowa Hawkeyes face off against the Indiana Hoosiers as both teams are beginning the bulks of their in-conference schedule. Can the Hoosiers offense play better than they did in their last game against a power five opponents? Will Flip Rebraca and Kris Murray be able to pull off the upset after three straight losses?

TV Schedule: January 5th, 2023 on Fox Sports 1 at 9:00 P.M

Location: Carver-Hawkeye Arena

The Indiana Hoosiers go into this game ranked as the 15th team in the country according to the AP Poll. They are 10-3 on the season, with losses against Kansas, Arizona, and Rutgers. The Hoosiers’ best win of the season has come against a talented but flawed North Carolina team.

Indiana’s offense has struggled in recent weeks. The offense looks very one-dimensional with Trayce Jackson Davis struggling to find anyone to compliment. Jalen-Hood Schifino used to be able to cut and make the offense seem more than one-dimensional but he isn’t hasn’t been able to do that.

The same can be said for when Trayce Jackson Davis is out of the lineup. He has been out of the lineup for precautionary reasons due to his back. Considering the level of the opponent, they were able to get by with a one-dimensional offense but things are gonna get harder in Big-10 play.

The Iowa Hawkeyes go into this game with a record of 8-6. Their six losses came against Nebraska, Eastern Illinois, Wisconsin, Duke, TCU, and Penn State. This team can get up and down the floor quickly, as they have one of the best offenses in the conference.

They are averaging 81 points per game, which is 15th in the country in that stat. The two main scorers are Khrs Murray and Flip Rebraca. Murray is averaging 20 points per game on 50 percent shooting, while Rebraca is averaging 14 points on 60 percent shooting.

While this team does have one of the best offenses in the country, their defense is one of the worst in the country. They allow 71 points per game, which is one of the worst in the country when it comes to that stat.

This game will come down to whether Indiana’s offense can be more than one-dimensional and whether they can score enough points to survive against a very good Iowa offensive team. Indiana will not be able to stop this Iowa offense at all and this game will be an offensive shootout.

I have the Hoosiers winning this one if Jackson Davis is healthy. When one of their two big players is out of the game, it is very hard for this Hoosier offense to create points. If both of them are in the game, it will be easy for the Hoosiers to put away the Hawkeyes’ team that really can’t defend at all.

Prediction: Indiana 79, Iowa 70
