When looking at Big East Basketball, it’s both easy and hard to judge. There’s a clear divide between the top half and bottom half, with one famous program in the middle, and could go either way. But within those tiers, it’s difficult to judge who should be above one another.

Here’s a look at how I rank all 11 Big East programs from top to bottom, with an obvious team last but a far from obvious one at the top. It’s certainly going to change within a week and after a few more results from those in the top tier taking on each other but this is all I have currently.

11. Georgetown Hoyas – 5-11 (0-5)

There were some signs of life with this program when they had a second-half lead against UConn a couple of weeks ago. They went on to lose that game but at least there was hope. That’s quickly faded away, as the Hoyas have lost at DePaul, then home blowouts to both Butler and Villanova by a combined 45 points, scoring fewer than 60 points both times.

Leading scorer Primo Spears shot a combined 4/19 in the two losses, with Brandon Murray struggling as well. And with Jay Heath out with an injury and the frontcourt giving them nothing on either end, Georgetown all of a sudden can’t score and still can’t defend.

It’s been 24 straight non-mid-major losses for the Hoyas and now they aren’t even competitive. We’ll see if they have anything left in the tank this weekend as they take on Marquette on the road.
