NCAA Basketball: Texas, Big Ten, and College of Charleston headline key storylines

What is going on in Charleston?  Could they get an at-large?

Charleston, South Carolina is currently home to the best story in college basketball. The College of Charleston Cougars are on a 15-game win streak, currently ranked in the AP College Basketball poll, and are a team that looks to run away with the Colonial. Any one who follows college basketball told everyone who would listen what head coach Pat Kelsey was capable of with resources and a bigger budget.  Look what coach Kelsey did at Winthrop with a minimal budget and fewer resources.

Just to level the Cougars are laser-focused and play with a level of intensity that only coach Kelsey can understand. The Cougars’ headman is one of the most intense individuals in all of college basketball, he coaches his team the only way he knows how and because of that they win and win quickly. In under two seasons, coach Kelsey has the Cougars playing some of the best basketball in the country. It is the first time since the 2002-2003 season that Charleston has been ranked and they do not appear ready to lose that ranking any time soon.

The Cougars have one of the best offenses in the country, all five starters average double digits in points and that is just the beginning. College of Charleston plays at one of the fastest paces in the country. They have a heavy three run and gun style of offense that overwhelms most of the teams they play. It also does not hurt that the Cougars are efficient from deep and efficient from inside the arc.

Charleston is a threat to make the tournament as an at-large because I honestly don’t know how many games they will lose total. There is no one better in the Colonial. The Cougars have already beat Virginia Tech, Davidson, Colorado State, and Richmond. They played North Carolina tough for a while before finally losing that game. The Cougars are legit and absolutely deserve their ranking in the top 25.
