The second week of January is upon us. That means the College Basketball season gets deeper into conference play and we have a new crop of the Busting Brackets Player of the Week awards to hand out. As we get deeper into the season, the list of players appearing on the nomination lists is starting to get closer to the same every week. This is usually the point when individual players start making their runs toward all-conference teams or player of the year in their respective conferences. A lot of these players who find themselves on the nominations list are all players you will see garner these awards.

Let’s try something different going forward with the Player of the Week award. If you had been following along and reading these articles every week you know that I would preview the week by every single player that was nominated for this award. Those were getting long and hard to write. Going forward I am going to pick five of the best players from my respected nominations and then a winner within those five players. This change will hopefully make these easier to read and for me to not sound so long-winded.

There has yet to be a repeat winner of the Busting Brackets Player of the Week award, but with this new format that is likely going to change. I will do my best to try and make sure that everyone that has a huge game is included in the initial scrub. There will be a final five from the Mid Major and the Power 6 divisions. Each of these players is deserving of the award this week. Let’s get right into the award for this week.
