Trentyn Flowers is a consensus five-star prospect in the 2024 NCAA Basketball class, ranked in the top 25 overall. He’s a 6’8 true small forward, capable of playing out on the perimeter and exploiting mismatches. Flowers is a quick and athletic scorer from all three levels and should be a tremendous offensive player at the college level.

A couple of months ago, Flowers had a list of 13 programs that were in the running, including a few big names. But with a couple of months of games and results, things may have changed in favor of some and not for others. Now, the five-star wing is down to just six teams.

There were originally five before the Jayhawks reportedly got back into the mix. There are plenty of pros and cons with each option. Here’s a closer look at how Flowers would fit.

Alabama Crimson Tide

If you’re a 6’8 wing, there might not be a better team in NCAA Basketball to watch than Alabama, who is led by 6’8 freshman, Brandon Miller. He’s averaging around 18 ppg and is one of the best first-year players, if not the best. Under head coach Nate Oats, the Crimson Tide has one of the best offenses in the game and is currently a Final Four contender.

As long as Oats stays at Alabama, expect them to be a clear contender for Flowers. But with Texas and maybe Kentucky potentially opening, that’s become a question. With 2024 a long way away, it’ll be interesting to see if that affects his decision.

Arkansas Razorbacks

Coach Eric Musselman is in a similar spot to Oats when it comes to being a hot name thrown out there in coaching searches. Assuming he sticks around in Fayetteville, look for the program to be in contention for another five-star prospect. It’s gone so-so with this group including the injured Nick Smith but as a team, they’re still in the top 15 of rankings.

The Razorbacks are a good offensive team and seeing the emergence of Ricky Council IV as a leading scorer could be a positive for Flowers when looking at the options. Plus, Musselman likes to move his forwards around in varying lineups, which would show off the prospect’s versatility.
