NCAA Basketball: Kentucky, Villanova and Florida Atlantic among week’s headlines
By Bryan Mauro
As we march toward the end of January the NCAA tournament picture is starting to come into focus. Fans of every team are studying the NET rankings and figuring out who has a legitimate chance of making the NCAA tournament. I will leave that conversation to the bracketologists, but there are still a ton of other storylines to discuss over the last week in NCAA Basketball.
It is that time again, Sunday and that means the Sunday Mailbag is back for another week. We all know the article by now, the one where readers ask me questions and I will answer them. That was at least how it used to be. I have changed the format and it has gotten a good reception so far. I was not getting the response that I have usually gotten with this article so while I will still answer user questions I am also adding my own questions to some of the most polarizing stories in the sport.
This week there are some very interesting things happened. We start in one of the best power conferences in the country and look at one of the blue bloods who is struggling right now. Is a change of scenery the best resolution? Then we are going to look at the overall state of the game by looking at officiating. This is something that gets talked about every year but it seems this year it is a huge hot button. There is also a question centered around another mid-major team who needs to be ranked. Let’s get into it.
