NCAA Basketball: Kendric Davis, Antoine Davis headline Players of the Week
By Bryan Mauro
Mid-Major nominees for Player of the Week
It was a huge week for a lot of players. The holidays were over and the teams got back to a normal practice and game schedule. That led to some players having huge weeks. Records were broken and guys were putting up 30-point games left and right. Shrinking the huge list down to five players was extremely hard.
The following players are the final five and the award will be given to one of these players.
Malik Miller- Morgan State Bears
The Senior is one of the best scoring and rebounding guards in the country. He plays in the MEAC so virtually no one knows about him.
Win over South Carolina State- 32 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals
Win over Coppin State- 16 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
In the win over South Carolina State, he and teammate Isaiah Burke became the first set of Morgan State teammates to each score 30 in the same game.
Claudell Harris- Charleston Southern
Heading into the season the Buccaneers were excited about the potential of their new star and he has lived up to the hype and then some.
Win over High Point- 34 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal
Loss to Radford- 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist
Antoine Davis- Detroit Mercy
Davis has spent his entire career playing for his father and he is one of the best players in the country. He keeps getting better every year.
Loss to Youngstown State- 32 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists
Win over Robert Morris- 41 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists
Drew Pember- UNC Asheville
The former Tennessee Volunteer has made a name for himself as one of the best players in the Big South over the last few seasons. He is making his last season one everyone will surely remember.
Win over Longwood- 19 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block
Win over Gardner-Webb- 22 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 blocks
Isaiah Stevens- Colorado State
One of the all-time leading scorers in Rams history and this last week may have been his best ever in Fort Collins.
Loss to Air Force- 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists
Win over UNLV- 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. He hit a half-court buzzer-beater to send the game to overtime where he took the game over. One of the single best performances I have seen this season.
