15. Gonzaga Bulldogs – 17-4 (6-1 WCC)

If you needed any more proof that this NCAA Basketball is completely crazy, Gonzaga finally lost a game to a WCC team not named Saint Mary’s and BYU since 2014. It was completely unexpected, taking on a solid LMU squad but it was at home, where the program has a 75-game winning streak nationally.

But after playing with fire with several teams in league play, the Bulldogs finally got burnt, losing to the Lions, 68-67. Drew Timme had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Nolan Hickman had 12 points and six assists but as a team, Gonzaga shot just 4/14 in the game.

After a historic loss, you’d think Gonzaga would come out guns blazing on the road at Pacific. Their offense did but the defense didn’t, as the team was tied with the Tigers, 47 each at the half. The Bulldogs started the second half with a 12-0 run but Pacific never went away. It took a career-high 38 points and 13 rebounds from Timme to survive with a 99-90 victory. Three others had at least 15 points for the Bulldogs but the team was not good enough for a team that looks real vulnerable in the WCC now.

Gonzaga looks to make some improvements this upcoming week, taking on Portland, who they previously dropped 115 points on, followed by another rematch against Santa Clara.
