Mid-Major nominees for Player of the Week
Every week it seems like I write the exact same thing and it always revolves around the huge individual performances that some of these players had. They never make it easy on me to pick the final five from the Mid Major ranks.
Max Fiedler – Rice Owls
The big man for Rice had a huge week. He was one of two players to record a triple-double.
Win over UTSA- 24 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 blocks
Win over North Texas- 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists
Justin Johnson – UTRGV Vaqueros
The high-scoring guard was back to his old self last week. He is usually the only offense for the Vaqueros.
Loss to Texas Arlington- 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists
Loss to Sam Houston- 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists
Cam Shelton – Loyola Marymount Lions
The Lions guard only played one game but it was a big performance in one of the biggest wins in the Loyola program history.\
Win over Gonzaga- 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists
Antoine Davis – Detroit Mercy Titans
The leading scorer in the NCAA is now the second-leading scorer in NCAA history, and will always be remembered as one of the best scorers of all time.
Win over IUPUI – 42 points, 1 rebound, and 5 assists
The guard has recorded his second straight 40-point game.
Marcus Tsohonis -Long Beach State 49ers
The senior guard who is a transfer from VCU, scored his career-high in points this week in a triple overtime game.
Win over Fullerton- 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist
Triple overtime Win over UC San Diego- 46 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
