Best NCAAB Bet Tonight
Kansas State is one of the best teams in the country, period. It seems the betting market hasn’t caught up with the Wildcats, and we’re getting fantastic value with a +5.5 spread even on the road.
The Wildcats are 9-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 11 games while winning three of their last four outright as underdogs. Iowa State is a quality team as well, but this spread is too big for a few key reasons.
First, Kansas State has a significant advantage offensively. Bart Torvik gives the Wildcats the 37th-best adjusted offensive efficiency while the Cyclones are 81st. Iowa State is 325th nationally in free throw rate (25.5%) but surrenders free throws at one of the country’s highest rates. The Wildcats will have an edge at the charity stripe, so the Cyclones have to make shots to mitigate that gap.
Further, the Wildcats have the 14th-best opponent three-point percentage (28.9%). If Kansas State prevents three-pointers and has an advantage at the free-throw line, then the Cyclones will have to shoot extremely well inside the arc to win the game.
Well, Kansas State has an edge there too. The Wildcats are 83rd nationally in field goal percentage (52.5%) while the Cyclones are 147th (50.8%).
Put everything together and it’s difficult to see Iowa State covering the spread against such a difficult opponent. Look for the Wildcats to improve to 10-2 ATS in their last dozen games and don’t be surprised if they win outright.
