Get the 3-point shot going

The old saying goes, if it isn’t broken don’t fix it and that’s exactly the mentality the Crimson Tide should take going into the game on Saturday, shoot the 3 ball.

The Sooners have been struggling to defend the arc since they started Big 12 play. Teams are averaging shooting 35.7% from 3, a big reason why they have started 2-6 in the Big 12. Alabama shoots 33.8% from deep as a team and should not be gun-shy going into this matchup.

Their offense is predicated on taking and making 3-point shots. They are 5th in the nation in 3-point attempts per game with 29.6 on average, and they average 10 made 3-pointers a game.

Freshman sensation Brandon Miller is currently shooting the leather off the ball at an astounding clip of 45% on the season. Junior guard Mark Sears is the second leading 3-point shooter based off of percentage for this Crimson Tide team shooting 36.8% from deep on the season. However, Sears has gone into a slump over his last 5 games going 6 for his last 28 attempts from beyond the arc. The Sooners are going to make a concerted effort to slow down Brandon Miller in this game, if Sears is able to get hot early, it could lead to big things for this Alabama team.
