ACC Basketball has been highly competitive this season, from top to almost the bottom. Unfortunately for Louisville, they have separated itself in a bad way, drawing comparisons to the 2017-18 Pittsburgh Panthers team that went winless in league play.
It’s taken a long time for Pitt to recover but after this past week, they may be on the way back to relevance. They aren’t the only team with a head coach succeeding after preseason hot seat talk, as Brad Brownell and Clemson are rolling along, despite its starting guards in and out of the lineup.
Another team with injury concerns was NC State, who had lost Terquavion Smith for the second half against North Carolina and looked as if they were in danger of losing for a while. But he didn’t miss time, returning to the Wolfpack for a pair of meaningful games this past week.
We also have a trio of programs in Wake Forest, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech, that are outside of the at-large picture. But a couple of important wins could easily change the fortunes of all of them. One of them did get a sweep but who was it?
Once again, the middle of the ACC has undergone some big changes, with a couple of programs jumping up compared to last week’s power rankings. Check out who they are, as well as who gets the No. 1 spot heading into another important week of league play.
