This is the first weekend in the month of February and that means that Bracketology is more important than ever in this sport. We’re just a little over a month away from Selection Sunday and each game has its importance, whether a team is fighting for a top seed or on the bubble.

There were a number of rivalry battles, which made the games even more important. And there were several matchups whose results had a sizeable impact in terms of Bracketology. Here are the teams that had the biggest past week overall, including a few honorable mentions.

Honorable Mention: Mississippi State Bulldogs

For a team that’s 3-7 in league play, the Bulldogs even being in the bubble conversation feels crazy but a lack of a bad loss and recent overtime win over TCU has kept them in the mix. This week, they have wins over at South Carolina and over Missouri, with the Tigers’ victory being in the Quad 2 range.

HM: Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers pulled off a nice road win at Ohio State, another team that has struggled in Big Ten play. It’s a Quad 1 victory for them and a needed one to end a three-game losing streak. The metrics have fallen apart for Wisconsin as of late but being in the Big Ten will keep them in the mix.

HM: Iowa Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes had three games this week against NCAA Tournament competition and won all three, beating Rutgers, Northwestern, and Illinois all at home. Iowa was around the 8-9 seed range to begin this week and likely will move up one line and become all but safe overall at the moment.
