Creighton Bluejays

It wasn’t too long ago when the Bluejays were 6-6 on the season with losses to Nebraska and BYU. They weren’t anywhere near the top-25 or at-large picture at that point but still had plenty of time to turn things around. But since then, they’re 11-2, and now safely in both fields.

This week solidified that, starting with a 75-62 road win at Seton Hall. The Pirates are a team that had quietly gotten back onto the bubble themselves so this was a big week for them. But Creighton, led by 19 points and nine rebounds from Baylor Scheierman, made sure to pull off the Quad 1 victory.

The Bluejays decided to make it two straight, beating UConn in a defensive slugfest. The final score was 56-53, with 17 points from Trey Alexander proving to be huge. It gave the Big East program its 4th Quad 1 win of the season and improves already elite metrics, including a top-15 Quad 1 ranking.

This team now moves off the bubble in a positive way, now in the 8-9 seed range. And they’re just one game back in the Big East standings, right where they were projected to do in the preseason. They have a couple of road games against St. John’s and Providence this week to increase their metrics but right now, are safely in the field.
