Kansas Jayhawks

When talking about teams that are likely to get No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, Purdue, Houston, and Tennessee/Alabama are in contention. But the team that has the case for the No. 1 overall seed has to be the Jayhawks, who are the only team in Bracketology to have at least 10 Quad 1 victories.

They crossed that threshold this week, starting with an 88-80 win at home over Texas. Three players had at least 16 points for the Jayhawks, led by 21 from freshman Gradey Dick. Not only was that another signature victory for them but it kept Kansas just one game back in the Big 12 regular-season title race.

They had an easier time this weekend at Oklahoma, who was in big need of a win. Kansas wouldn’t let that happen, gaining the 78-55 victory. Jalen Wilson had 18 points to lead the way. It’s another Quad 1 win on the resume, giving them an NCAA-leading 11 overall.

The case for a No. 1 overall seed is stronger than ever for the Jayhawks, and they have two more chances to boost it this week, starting with Oklahoma State on the road. And after that is a massive matchup on the weekend against Baylor at home.
