Seton Hall Pirates

Coming into this past week, the Pirates have won three straight games and 7 out of 8 to get back on the bubble. But they had two tough games this week, at home against a surging Creighton before going on the road at an improving Villanova squad that has Justin Moore back.

Seton Hall was down just one point to the Bluejays but it was played at a pace they couldn’t sustain. Creighton took advantage and raced out to a 75-62 victory. Al-Amir Dawes did his part, tying a game-high with 19 points. This result didn’t hurt their resume but it was a missed opportunity at home.

But against the Wildcats, Seton Hall’s offensive issues rose up yet again, scoring just 20 points in the first half. They managed to stay in the game and had a chance to win at the end but came up short with the 58-54 defeat. Tyrese Samuel had 14 points and 10 rebounds but the team shot 40% from the field and had 18 turnovers overall.

The Pirates lost some of the progress they made in the past month and took a step back. Now they have a home game against Georgetown followed by a road battle at UConn. A spilt would be acceptable but they’re running out of time so they may have to beat the Huskies next weekend to get back on the cutline.
