There is only two weeks remaining in regular season SEC Basketball play before we get into the fun part of the season: conference and NCAA Tournaments. The SEC Tournament field is starting to take shape after another wild week. Alabama fell for the first time, Vanderbilt wins on ANOTHER buzzer-beater, Kentucky uses Tennessee again as a resume booster and the middle of the league continues to get tighter and more bunched together.

There are two teams in the state of Tennessee going in different directions. One preseason favorite to win the league is still stuck in neutral. One first-year head coach dropped his 13th straight to sink to the bottom of the league. There are plenty of surprises and movements once again so let’s get into it

#14- LSU (12-15, 1-13)

The Tigers shocked the conference with a win over Arkansas in their SEC opener. It’s been a continuing nightmare since then. LSU has lost 13 straight and they officially hit rock bottom on Saturday with a home loss against South Carolina, the team that has held this last-place ranking for most of the season. Before the South Carolina loss, they let a winnable game against Georgia slip away.

There’s just not much that this team does well. Dead last in offensive efficiency, dead last in two-point percentage, dead last in effective field goal percentage, and dead last in defensive effective field goal AND three-point percentage.

This is a bad basketball team and despite Matt McMahon bringing some of his best players from Murray State with him to Baton Rouge, they have found zero cohesiveness and are clearly the worst team in the SEC. Their non-conference schedule did them no favors in preparing them for conference play, they have zero identity and the losses just keep piling up. The good news? Their season is over in two and a half weeks.
